The HSInst231.exe program installs H-Sphere to winbox and configures all required software (Download HSInst231.exe). It is organized in the form of a wizard. During the installation you will have to set below parameters that determine the behavior of your H-Sphere Windows box. Some of these parameters are predetermined by the installation program and can be left unchanged. If you are unsure about setting any of the parameters, it is also advisable to leave them as they are. You can stop the installation wizard at any time.

Step 1. Customization of Third-party Additional Systems Integrable with H-Sphere Installed on the Winbox

Prior to installing H-Sphere, make sure to have all third party products installed on the Winbox, or else you will have to configure corresponding parameters in the conf.inc file. Currently, H-Sphere integrates with the following systems:

Check the boxes next to the systems already installed on the box:

Step 2. Setting General Parameters

  • Company name: enter your company name which will be displayed in index.html and login.html files and used in every newly created website.
  • H-Sphere control panel URL: enter your H-Sphere control panel URL. This value will also be used in index.html and login.html files as links to the H-Sphere control panel.
  • SiteStudio is used as a site builder: check the box if you would like to have SiteStudio integrated with HSphere. After you have done that, enter your SiteStudio URL in the SiteStudio URL field, e.g.: http://65.219.197.236:8080/studio/servlet/psoft.masonry.Builder. This URL is also used in the index.html and login.html files.
  • Network interface: if you have several net interfaces, choose the one that you intend to use for hosting services.
  • Read config on the fly: check the box if you want H-Sphere service to read the changes in the conf.inc configuration file immediately after they have been made. If you leave the box unchecked, you will have to restart H-Sphere Windows Service each time you make any changes in this file to make it reread them.
  • Use separate users' group: check the box if you want each new H-Sphere user to be created in a local group (its name can be set in the H-Sphere control panel). If you leave the box blank, H-Sphere users will be created in the Users built-in group.
  • Rotate by: select the rotation type of internal H-Sphere log files.
    • The Size option will rotate the log files when the current file reaches the set limit.
    • The Period option will rotate the log files every specified number of hours.

Step 3. Setting Web Parameters

  • Path to the FrontPage Server extensions admin program: enter the full path to the program which administrates FrontPage server extensions.
  • Web application isolation level: select the isolation level of H-Sphere users' web programs. We recommend to set the web application isolation level to medium during the installation.


Step 4. Configuration of ActivePerl Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specified ActivePerl as an installed system on step 1 .

Enter the full path to the directory where ActivePerl is located.

Step 5. Configuration of Miva Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specified Miva as an installed system on step 1 .

  • Miva Empresa directory: enter the full path to the directory where Miva Empresa is located.
  • Miva Merchant directory: enter the full path to the directory where Miva Merchant is located.

If you have Miva commerce libraries, check the box and fill in the field.

  • Miva commerce libraries directory: enter the full path to the directory where commerce libraries are located.

Step 6. Configuration of PHP Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specify PHP as an installed system on step 1 .

Enter the full path to the directory where PHP is located.

Step 7. Setting Webalizer Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specified Webalizer as an installed system on step 1 .

Enter the complete path to the directory where Webalizer is located.

Step 8. Configuration of Microsoft SQL Server Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specified MSSQL as an installed system on step 1 .

  • MSSQL server name or IP address: enter the NetBIOS name or the IP address of the computer on which MSSQL server is installed. This can be 'localhost'.
  • MSSQL server admin login: enter the administrator of MSSQL server login. It is used by the installation program to connect to the server.
  • MSSQL password: enter the password to the administrator's login entered in the previous field.
  • HSphere login for MSSQL: enter the login which will be generated by the installation program as additional MSSQL server administrator login to to be used by H-Sphere to connect to this MSSQL server.
  • HSphere password: enter the password for the login entered in the previous field.

Step 9. Setting Urchin Parameters

This step is omitted if you have not specified Urchin as an installed system on step 1 .

Enter the complete path to the directory where Urchin is located.

Step 10. FTP Server type choosing

This step is omitted if Serv-U FTP server is not installed.

  • Choose FTP server which will be used for hosting: select one of IIS or Serv-U.

Step 11. Configuration of Installation Parameters

  • Scripts account name: enter the name of the user's account which will be used when accessing H-Sphere scripts and under which they will be performed. This account will be created to the local "Administrators" built-in group. This user's name must be used when configuring Windows box for the H-Sphere control panel.
  • Scripts account password: enter the user's account password.
  • Default H-Sphere website: select the webhost where the H-Sphere scripts will be installed. If you want to create a new website, select the New... item.
  • Guest FTP site: select FTP site which will be used by H-Sphere users to access their homedirs by FTP.
  • H-Sphere directory: enter the full path to the directory where you intend to install H-Sphere.
  • Users home directory: enter the full path to the directory where the users' home directories will be located.
  • Web and FTP logs directory: enter the full path to the directory where the H-Sphere web and ftp log files of sites will be located.
  • Change: check the box if you want to change the name of virtual directory where H-Sphere scripts will be located.
  • H-Sphere scripts virtual directory name: enter the name for the directory where H-Sphere scripts will be located. Virtual directory with this name will be created on the website chosen as the default H-Sphere website.

Step 12. Creating New Default Website

This step can be omitted if you have chosen one of the existing websites as the default H-Sphere website on the previous step.

New webhost description: enter the name of a new webhost which will be displayed in the webhost list.

New webhost IP address: select the IP address for a new webhost. Note that a new webhost will be created under a "white" hostname, which enables it to be a default webhost for this IP. That is why we should be sure that there is not any webhost by default on this IP and 80 port.

Step 13. Finishing the Installation

When all parameters are set, click the Finish button to start the installation.

Start service after the installation: check the box if you want the installation program to start H-Sphere service immediately after it has been installed.

Step 14. Adding Servers

Now that you have completed the installation, add the Windows box to H-Sphere configuration as suggested here.
First of all, add the windows physical server:

  1. Log into your CP
  2. Select Add P.Server in the E.Manager menu.
  3. Fill the form that shows:
    • Enter the login and password for Windows box. This is an authorization info you provided during H-Sphere Windows software installation.
    • Enter the H-Sphere website IP there.
      Note: OS type of this server should be set "Windows".
    • Click Submit.

Second, you should add an appropriate logical server for this physical server:

  1. Select Add L.Server in the E.Manager menu.
  2. Fill the form that shows.
    Note: Physical server should be a member of the "win server" group for web hosting server, "MSSQL server" for MSSQL hosting and "Real server" for Real Server hosting.
  3. Click Submit.

Third, add an A record to this box into your DNS zone and mail relay.

To verify your windows box, click the magnify icon next to the physical server link. You will get server info if the server has been added to your cluster. Plan wizard will be activated automatically.
