One of the ways to accelerate the performance of H-Sphere is to upgrade your system Postges database to
version 7.3 which has significant speed improvements.
- Create dumps of the H-Sphere system database and all SiteStudio databases. Usually, these are
hsphere, counter, poll, and guestbook. If you have custom databases,
you may want to back them up, too. You can use the pg_dump command for the backup.
- It's a good idea to validate or check the dump of the databases to make sure you'll be able to
recover the data after the upgrade. You can create a duplicate backup.
- Upgrade the postgresql RPMs (or packager under FreeBSD). Alternatively, you can perform the update
in two steps:
- uninstall the old postgresql RPMs (packages);
- install the new postgresql RPMs (packages).
- Create the H-Sphere postgresql DB user (usually the wwwuser postgresql account is used) and set the
password which is used in the ~cpanel/shiva/psoft_config/hsphere.properties file.
- Create H-Sphere and SiteStudio databases under this account and restore the database content from
the dump files.
